2004 Chevrolet Colorado Washer Reservoir Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to replace the windshield washer reservoir on 2004 Chevrolet Colorado?
A: To affix a new windshield solvent container you should take out the air cleaner followed by unfastening the reservoir bolt from its wheelhouse bracket. Disconnect the electrical wire at the Washer Pump then remove both bolts which secure the washer tank to the top bracket and the tank to the j-clip. Lower the Coolant Reservoir and remove the washer hose from the Washer Pump to drain washer solvent into a suitable container before taking out the washer solvent container. Discard the washer solvent container and separate its components including pump , grommet , cap, and lower grommet. Place the Washer Pump grommet into a new container and add the old cap and lower container grommet. Position the old pump into the new grommet while using washer solvent for easier installation. Put the washer solvent container against the fender flange and fasten bolts lightly at first. Place the Coolant Reservoir near the washer solvent container and put in the upper bracket bolt loosely to hold the reservoir to the wheelhouse. Secure the bracket to the washer solvent container by loosely installing the bolt. Apply 9 n.m (81 lb in) torque when you secure both washer containers to the fender flange bolts, the washer solvent container bracket bolt, and the joint connection holding washer and coolant reservoirs together. Also tighten the nozzle fitting and Coolant Reservoir to wheelhouse bolt to 9 n.m. Attach the washer hose to its pump base and plug in the electrical connector before putting back the air cleaner system, injecting clean washer solvent into the tank and doing leak checks before shutting the hood.
