How to replace the wiper arm on 2004 Chevrolet Colorado?

Begin the project by opening the hood and taking out the Wiper Arm nut cap for disposal. As a next step remove the Wiper Arm nut at its attachment point on the Wiper Arm. The Wiper Arm puller tool (J 39637) will remove the Wiper Arm when it fails to separate from the pivot shaft through rocking motions. Once you pull off the Wiper Blade from the Wiper Arm apply a soft wire brush to clean the pivot shaft knurls. Set the Wiper Arm blade onto the new Wiper Arm then lift the Wiper Blade off the windshield before you mount the Wiper Arm onto the Wiper Arm pivot shaft . Advancing the wiper tip till it lines up with the dot on the blackout section sets the proper alignme secure the Wiper Blade location before threading in and tightening the Wiper Arm nut to 33-38 n.m (24-28 lb ft). Reassemble the Wiper Arm nut covers by putting the hood back to its original position.
