2004 Chevrolet Monte Carlo Brake Booster Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the vacuum brake booster on a 3.4L engine on 2004 Chevrolet Monte Carlo?
A: Secure the Brake Booster by using j 22805-b power Brake Booster holder to begin vacuum Brake Booster replacement for 3.4l engines. Unplug the stop lamp electrical connector and remove the retaining clip from the Brake Pedal while taking away the left instrument panel insulator. Empty part of the cooling system before removing the cross vehicle brace and air cleaner inlet duct. Pressurize the fuel system then disconnect the evap canister purge valve pipe fuel feed pipe and return pipe arranging them near the work area. Sever the coolant bypass hoses at their inlet and outlet before taking off the heater pipe. First move the engine forward to get better reach before taking off the electrical link to the Brake Fluid Level Sensor. The brake pipes do not require disconnecting from the master cylinder to work on the bpmv. First detach the two master cylinder retaining nuts then place the master cylinder to the side. Remove the vacuum check valve from the Brake Booster by taking out both parts together. Press the Brake Booster locking tab down with a flat-bladed tool as you turn the booster counterclockwise using j 22805-b while holding the booster against the cowl with the master cylinder retaining nuts. Position the new vacuum Brake Booster on the cowl counterclockwise then turn it clockwise with a ratchet on power Brake Booster holder (J 22805-B) until the locking tab engages the locking notch. Reattach and connect the vacuum hose with its check valve before placing the master cylinder onto the booster unit. Secure the retaining nuts at 25 nm (18 ft. Lbs.) torque. Reseat your engine and place both engine mount struts before connecting the brake fluid sensor electrical part. Add the heater pipe back into place followed by the coolant outlet and inlet bypass hoses. Also fit evap canister purge valve pipe and fuel system parts together. After these steps finish up the work by adding the air cleaner inlet duct followed by inserting the cross vehicle brace and filling the cooling system. Also connect the Brake Booster pushrod to the Brake Pedal before installing the retaining clip and connecting the stop lamp switch wires to their proper location. Finally replace the left instrument panel insulator.
