2004 Chevrolet SSR Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the A/C Hose Assembly on 2004 Chevrolet SSR?
A: When replacing the compressor hose assembly the first step requires recovering all refrigeration gases. Start by disconnecting the a/c liquid line followed by disconnecting both the compressor hose assembly and lower pressure cut out switch from their positioning on the assembly. First pull off the retaining nut from the compressor hose at its position on the thermal expansion valve (TXV) followed by removing the compressor hose assembly from the txv. Afterwards, remove both the radiator support along with the upper radiator outlet tank seal. Start the repair process by untightening and removing the compressor hose retaining bolt at the condenser before removing the hose from the compressor unit. First disconnect the A/C Compressor by removing its mounting nut then detach the compressor hose from the A/C Compressor before pulling the hose from the vehicle. All existing sealing washers need disposal followed by adding caps to system access points. Installation requires that system opening caps are removed before fitting the compressor hose assembly. The condenser gets its compressor hose connection through new sealing washers before receiving the compressor hose bolt which needs to be tightened to 16 n.m (12 lb ft). The txv requires new sealing washers before attaching the compressor hose. After nut installation into the txv you should tighten it to 20 n.m (15 lb ft). Insert new sealing washers around the A/C Compressor before fixing the compressor hose nut which should be tightened to 20 n.m (15 lb ft). Use new sealing washers to reassemble the a/c liquid line at the txv before tightening its nut to 16 n.m (12 lb ft). Evacuate and recharge the a/c system then conduct a halogen leak detector (J 39400-A) check on all component fittings. Install both the upper radiator outlet tank seal and radiator support into place.
