2004 Chevrolet Tracker Brake Calipers Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace brake calipers on 2004 Chevrolet Tracker?
A: Before replacing the brake caliper avoid both sanding or grinding brake pads and avoiding dry cleaning or air blowing brake component parts as they might distribute asbestos dust. A damp cloth and range water cleans the dust areas. Avoid brake fluid contact with skin and eye damage; rinse the affected areas with water and clean your skin with soap and water before seeing a doctor when fluid enters your stomach. Use shop cloths and suitable storage to shield electrical connections and painted areas from brake fluid harm during the work process. Start by taking out two-thirds of brake fluid from the master cylinder reservoir using a vacuum tool. Lift the vehicle to work position and take off the tire and wheel unit. Put a container under the brake hose first to receive any fluid leak before you take off both brake hose parts and two caliper washers. Next unscrew and remove the 2 caliper pin bolts before removing the caliper from the caliper bracket. Thread the brake boots onto the grooves before placing the caliper unit onto the caliper bracket. Install the 2 caliper pin bolts then tighten them to 27 nm (20 ft. Lbs.). Attach the brake hose to the caliper then put on hand fitting and washers before tightening the brake hose fitting at 23 nm. Replace the tire and wheel before lowering the vehicle while topping up the master cylinder reservoir. After replacing a brake component with air entry the entire bleeding process needs to take place to achieve safe braking capability. Finally, bleed the brake system.
