A: To replace the Camshaft Timing Chain tensioner, two out of these operations are required initially by detaching the negative Battery Cable and de-attack the Timing Chain housing. Remove the spark plugs to make rotation of the Crankshaft easier in aligning the timing mark. Spread the timing marks on the Crankshaft, air cleaner housing gasket retainer area. 034244, key way 034243, crankshaft (mark), bottom of engine block, camshaft 034245, key references/cast identifier number: CA at the bottom port of the seal. The resulting mark should be aligned with TDC on No. 1 cylinder (compression stroke) on the Crankshaft, as shown, to align the key reference/cast identifier number: A on the bottom case of the seal, pointing upward, toward the engine side of the idler gear, wheel number: A005019. Make sure not to turn the Crankshaft or Camshaft after the tensioner is removed. Relieve tension on Timing Chain of the Camshaft by turning the intake slightly counter clockwise, then undo the nut and bolts 1, 2 from which to take out the Camshaft Timing Chain tensioner and gasket. Examine the Camshaft Timing Chain tensioner for wear, damage and proper functioning and replace if necessary, the same with the Timing Chain tensioner gasket. Push the Camshaft tensioner plunger back in the body and slide a retainer (a paper clip or something similar) through the hole of the body to pry the plunger into place. The gasket has to be installed and followed by the Camshaft Timing Chain tensioner which is secured with the bolts that are tighten to 11 nm (97 inch lbs.), and the nut to 45 nm (33 ft. Lbs.). Take off the retainer from the tensioner, then rotate the Crankshaft 2 revolutions to align the keyway of the Crankshaft with the timing mark of the engine block and align the guide holders on the camshafts to be along in line with the notches of the Cylinder Head . Oil the timing chains as well as tensioner, guides and sprockets with engine oil and install the spark plugs and tighten them to 25 nm (18 ft. Lbs.). At last, you are to install the Timing Chain housing as well as reinstate the negative Battery Cable.
