2004 GMC Envoy Fuel Injector Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace a fuel injector on 2004 GMC Envoy?
A: The first step begins with removing the Fuel Rail assembly followed by disconnecting the Fuel Injector harness from its connection to the Fuel Injector. Proceed by removing the Fuel Injector retainer clip and extracting the Fuel Injector out of the Fuel Rail assembly but discard both the clip along with o-ring seals (2, 4) at its terminal ends. Before installing the new Fuel Injector check that it matches the application because the Fuel Injector displays both a part number id along with a 4-digit build date code showing the production month, day and year of the specific manufacturing shift. Apply a small amount of gm p/n 9981704 lubricant to both new o-ring seals that will be installed on the Fuel Injector (2, 4). The Fuel Injector should be pushed into the Fuel Rail injector socket with the electrical connector end facing outward while using a new retainer clip to lock onto the flange of the Fuel Rail injector socket. The final step is to attach the Fuel Injector harness connector to its correct location on the Fuel Injector followed by reinstallation of the Fuel Rail assembly.
