How to replace the rear trunk latch on 2005 Buick LaCrosse?

Begin replacement by taking off the rear storage carpet from the rear compartment area. Draw the spot for the new latch on the lid with a grease pencil and disconnect both electrical connectors and the cable from the old lock component. The rear compartment lid latch is secured to the lid by nuts that must come off prior to removal. Position the new rear compartment lid latch onto its installation marks before bolting and tightening nuts to 10 N.m (89 lb in). Connect the electrical components followed by the cable to the cylinder actuator then put back the carpet and close the compartment again.
