How to replace the rear trunk latch on 2006 Buick LaCrosse?

Begin on the rear compartment lid replacement procedure by opening the rear compartment space and removing its carpet. Mark the lid area where the rear compartment latch is and then disconnect all electrical connections from that latch and its cable to the lock cylinder. Open the lid and loosen its nuts before removing the latch. Put the new latch in place based on alignment marks and tighten its nuts hand-tight before reaching torque of 10 N.m (89 lb in). Connect the electrical unit and push the lock cylinder back together before placing the rear compartment lid carpet and closing the compartment.
