How to replace the rear Trunk Lid Lift Support on 2005 Buick LaCrosse?

Begin replacement by opening and propping up the rear compartment lid. Insert a small flat tool underneath the locking clip to lift it from the top ball stud. Push the assembly out. Press the lower ball stud of the haft to release the strut from the roof compartment hinge. Position the new rear compartment lid strut to the hinge and press in first the lower then the upper ball stud while making sure both locking clips remain closed. You should finish by removing the rear compartment support and letting the compartment rest.
