How to properly service and repair the Trunk Lid Lift Support on Buick LaCrosse?

Begin by holding up the rear compartment lid while it is also open. Insert a small flat-blade tool under the locking clip on top of the strut upper ball stud to push it out. Use the same tool to push away the lower locking clip on the ball stud before taking out the lower ball stud from the strut. Once ready remove the entire strut from the hinge. You will install the new rear compartment lid strut by placing it on the hinge then pressing the lower and upper ball studs in sequence before closing both locking clips. Afterwards close the rear compartment by taking off the support.
