How to replace the rear Trunk Lid Lift Support on 2008 Buick LaCrosse?

Start your work by opening and holding up the rear compartment lid. Apply the flat-bladed tool underneath the lock pack on the strut upper ball stud to push out the steel component. Insert the flat-bladed tool underneath the locking clip on the lower ball stud to push the strut's lower ball stud out and free the unit from its hinge. Fit the new rear compartment lid strut to the hinge by first inserting its lower ball stud then pressing the upper ball stud into place until both locking clips snap shut. To finish the procedure snap off the rear compartment lid support and press the compartment shut.
