- Q: How to replace the positive battery cable on 2005 Buick LeSabre?A: Unplug the battery negative cable and disconnect the positive Battery Cable from the battery before replacing it. Unfasten the nut that secures the positive Battery Cable from the rear fuse block, right side garnish molding, and the right front and rear carpet retainers, as well as the right closeout insulator panel. Next, remove Battery Cable retainers from the rocker panel area, then remove retaining nut and disconnect Battery Cable from under hood fuse block. Remove the Battery Cable retainer from body side rail and loose the Battery Cable grommentl from cowl panel. Carefully, pull the cable of battery through the cowl panel and out of the vehicle. For installation, pull the cable forward in the engine compartment and seat the cable grommet through the opening in the cowl panel , insert the Battery Cable through the opening in the cowl panel and seat the cable grommet. Install the Battery Cable retainer to the body side rail and connect the cable to the under hood electrical center, tighting the nut to 15 n.m (11 lb ft). Routing the Battery Cable along the rocker panel and use the cable retainers , reinstall right closeout insulator panel, right front and rear carpet retainers, and right side garnish molding. Attach the positive cable to the rear fuse block tightening the nut to 15 n.m (11 lb ft), then attach the positive Battery Cable to the battery and bolt it down tightly to a torque of 17 n.m (13 lb ft). Lastly, reconnect the negative cable of the battery.
