  • Q: How to replace the power steering pump on 2005 Buick Park Avenue?
A: Start the process of Power Steering Pump replacement by first eliminating the Drive Belt and subsequently raising and supporting the vehicle. Position a drain tray under the vehicle before following with the power steering pressure hose and return hose removal from the Power Steering Pump followed by the wiring harness detachment. Detach the antilock brake wiring harness bracket while you also remove the right outer tie rod retaining nut. Use the steering linkage and tie rod puller (J 24319-B) before removing the outer tie rod from the Steering Knuckle. Proceed to take out the right outer tie rod and the Power Steering Pump retaining bolts before completely extracting the Power Steering Pump. Transfer of the power steering pulley should be performed when needed. Install the Power Steering Pump on the engine before tightening its retaining bolts to 27 nm (20 ft. Lbs.). Secure the right outer tie rod to its position on the Steering Knuckle and fasten it with an outer tie rod retaining nut which needs a torque of 75 nm (55 ft. Lbs.). Widen the power steering pressure hose before tightening it to 27 nm (20 ft. Lbs.) conditions while also attaching the power steering return hose. Complete the process of vehicle lowering and install the Drive Belt before bleeding the power steering system and performing inspection for leakages.
