Begin by removing the Steering Column and intermediate shaft assembly before starting intermediate Steering Shaft replacement. Start by removing the intermediate pinch bolt connecting the Steering Column to the shaft and removing the intermediate Steering Shaft itself. Attach the intermediate Steering Shaft to the Steering Column while installing the pinch bolt which secures the intermediate Steering Shaft against the Steering Column until you reach 47 nm (35 ft. Lbs.) of bolt tightness. Complete the installation by reattaching the Steering Column which now includes the intermediate shaft.
