2005 Buick Park Avenue Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the thermostat (L36) on 2005 Buick Park Avenue?
A: One must first remove the engine cover and drain coolants before starting the Thermostat (L36) replacement. Use hose clamp pliers (J38185) to release the inlet Radiator Hose clamp located at the Thermostat Housing before removing the inlet hose from this area. Start by removing bolts from the Thermostat Housing followed by the housing and Thermostat itself. Clean all mounting surfaces for the gasket as well as both the housing and intake port. The Thermostat installation sequence starts with the Thermostat itself then you can proceed with the newly coated Thermostat Housing installation using a fresh gasket. Next apply torque to the Thermostat Housing bolts using 20 nm (15 ft. Lbs.) of force. The last step includes placing the inlet Radiator Hose into position followed by clamping it in place. Then complete the coolant level restoration before rehanging the engine cover.
