  A: A technician must disable the SIR system before working on the inflatable restraint front end sensor. Apply power only after ensuring the sensor's secure fastening to prevent sensor deployment or injury. Also avoid hitting or shaking the sensor during replacement. Start by taking away the front air deflector before detaching the connector position assurance from the inflatable restraint front end discriminating sensor wiring harness connector. Unplug the wiring harness connector away from the sensor. To access the lower tie bar through its designated hole tighten the left-hand threaded inflatable restraint front end discriminating sensor mounting fastener. Sliding the sensor backward through the keyhole slot enables sensor removal while lifting it vertically. To install the sensor start by cleaning the mounting area before inserting the device horizontally into its keyhole slot while maintaining the arrow position at the front of the vehicle. The fastener requires tightening to 9 N.m (80 lb in) while the wiring harness connector must attach to the sensor followed by securing a CPA to join the connector. Once installation is complete, reinstall the front air deflector and enable the SIR system.
