• Q: How to replace the Air Bag Sensor for the side impact on 2004 Cadillac DeVille?

  A: In order to replace the inflatable restraint side impact sensor (SIS), first deactivate the SIR system. Do not hit or jar the SIS and ensure it is properly secured before applying power to prevent deployment or injury. To removed, pull the seat to the full forward position; you then remove the center pillar trim panel. De-mate the connector position assurance (CPA) from the SIS harness connector , de-mate the SIS harness connector from the SIS . Disconnect SIS mounting fasteners and remove the SIS from the center pillar. For installation clean the mounting surface of the dirt and grease and then install the SIS back onto the center pillar and fix it with the mounting fasteners , tightening the screws to 9 N.m (80 lb in). Re-connect the SIS harness connector to the SIS and fit the CPA onto the SIS harness connector. Finally, reinstall the center pillar trim, position the seat back to its original position, and activate the SIR system.
