  A: Start by disabling the SIR system before proceeding with Inflatable Restraint Front End Sensor replacement work. Before powering the system you must ensure proper sensor attachment and disable SIR activation through careful handling to protect both the sensor and people nearby. Remove the front air deflector first before unclipping the connector position assurance from the inflatable restraint front end discriminating sensor wiring harness connector and separating the wiring harness connector from the sensor. Next access the lower tie bar hole receiving the left-hand threaded inflatable restraint front end discriminating sensor mounting fastener. To remove the sensor gently move it upward across the key hole slot until it exits completely from the rear of the hole slot. Clean the mounting area then carefully insert the new sensor flat into the key hole slot positioning the arrow toward vehicle front. Install the CPA onto the wiring harness connector after tightening the fastener to 9 N.m (80 lb in) then reconnect the sensor to the wiring harness connector.
