• Q: How to replace the throttle cable on 2005 Cadillac DeVille?

  A: To replace the Throttle Cable do the following, disconnect the Throttle Cable to the throttle bracket and to the throttle body lever. Next, the Throttle Cable should be disconnected at the retainer on the bulkhead, then the left closeout insulator panel removed. Pull the cable, squeezing the Throttle Cable cover tangs and push cable through bulkhead then releasing cable at the throttle pedal and removing cable. For installation, avoid placing flexible parts near moving parts (50mm or 2 in). Start by fitting the Throttle Cable at the throttle body lever and the Throttle Cable bracket and routing it through the groove in the throttle body lever and seating it properly. Route the Throttle Cable above the Brake Master Cylinder and run through the bulkhead and secure at the retainer on the bulkhead. Lastly, install the Throttle Cable at the throttle pedal, testing for the full throttle opening and closing positions by use of throttle pedal and the absence of binding in full closed and wide open throttle. Reinstall the left closeout insulator panel.
