Throttle Cable

The first step to replace the Throttle Cable requires disconnecting it first from the throttle controls bracket and second from the throttle body lever. The next step involves disconnecting the Throttle Cable from the retainer located on the dash panel (bulkhead). While unscrewing the retainer you should squeeze the Throttle Cable cover tangs to push it through the dash panel (bulkhead). The left closeout insulator panel requires removal before you disconnect the Throttle Cable from the throttle controls pedal to remove the entire cable. Installation must not allow flexible material to travel closer than 50 mm (2 in) to any movable element. Install the Throttle Cable through the groove of throttle body lever before securing it in position. Before installing the Throttle Cable it should be connected at the throttle controls cable bracket and its path should lead over the Brake Master Cylinder then through the dash. The technician must install and secure the Throttle Cable components at both the retainer on the dash (bulkhead) and at the throttle controls pedal. Operation of the throttle controls pedal requires a complete checkup on throttle motion to confirm no restrictions exist between minimum and maximum positions before removing the left closeout insulator panel.

To service and repair the Throttle Cable; start by removing the Throttle Cable from the accelerator controls bracket to the throttle body lever. Next come off the cable at the retainer on the bulkhead and pull the left closeout insulator panel. Compress the cover annuls of the Throttle Cable and at the bulkhead, next disconnect it at the accelerator controls pedal and take the cable away. For installation part flexible parts, it should not be routed closer than 50mm (2pt.set) from moving parts such that they will not interfere from one another and are damaged. Mount the Throttle Cable at throttle body lever and accelerator controls cable bracket such that it runs through the groove in throttle body lever and it is firmly seated. The Throttle Cable should run through the groove in the throttle body lever. Install the Throttle Cable so that it is firmly seated the accelerator controls cable bracket at throttle body lever. The Throttle Cable, route it over the Brake Master Cylinder and through the bulkhead, and tie it to the retainer on the bulkhead. Finally, install the Throttle Cable at the accelerator controls pedal, confirming the full throttle open/closed positions, by operating the pedal, and checking there is no bind between full closed & wide open throttle. End up by reinstalling the left closeout insulator panel.

Attach the accelerator control cable at the accelerator controls cable bracket, route it over the brake master cylinder and through the bulkhead, and secure it at the retainer on the bulkhead.
