2005 Chevrolet Astro Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the oil pan on 2005 Chevrolet Astro?
A: You should start by removing the battery's negative cord and then taking away the oil level indicator before starting the Oil Pan replacement process. Ride the vehicle to a comfortable height while draining engine oil into a proper container by removing the Drain Plug from the Oil Pan. Cleanly extract the Oil Filter right after the drain operation. Start by taking out the bolt securing the oil cooler pipes bracket to the Oil Pan then remove the Oil Filter adapter. Begin by removing the bolt securing both the Starter wiring harness bracket and transmission cooler pipes. Next detach the crankcase position sensor wiring harness from its retainer before removing the Starter. You need to remove first the transmission cover and after that for awd models dismantle the inner axle shaft housing support bracket from its frame nuts and washers together with front differential carrier upper and lower mounting nuts and bolts. To remove the engine's Oil Pan you must first lower the front differential carrier assembly some amount before extracting three components: access plugs for Oil Pan rear nuts along with transmission to Oil Pan bolts and the Oil Pan itself. Before reinstalling the Oil Pan to the engine, clean all surfaces and position the transmission in front of the Oil Pan to maintain correct alignment that prevents transmission failure. Begin installation by adding transmission to oilpan bolts and rotating nuts to 47 nm (35 ft. Lbs.) followed by installing the rear Oil Pan access plugs and positioning the front differential carrier assembly. Awd models should receive their carrier upper and lower mounting bolts and nuts installed before the inner axle shaft housing support bracket to frame washers and nuts. Install the transmission cover bolts at 12 nm (106 inch lbs.) torque setting before reinstalling the Starter motor along with its bracket and wiring harness transmission cooler pipes. Torque the bracket bolts to 10 nm (89 inch lbs.). Place the ckp sensor wiring harness back into its retainer then bolt on the Oil Filter adapter and oil cooler pipes bracket before tightening all bolts to 10 nm (89 inch lbs.). Place the Oil Filter while torquing to 25 nm (18 ft. Lbs.) before placing the vehicle on the floor to connect the battery negative cable.
