  • Q: How to Replace the Front and Rear Vertical Seat Motor Actuators on 2005 Chevrolet Classic?
A: The replacement process for both front and rear vertical actuators starts with setting the front seat to the highest vertical position and disassembling the seat adjusters assembly with its power Seat Switch. For horizontal bolt access locate between the lower seat track and upper channel of the adjuster on its vertical section. Set the front seat adjusters aside from the seat cushion frame to prepare a protective barrier inside the vehicle structure. The oblong connector for vertical drive cables should be squeezed for removing the drive cable from the actuator (1,4). By following this process the adjuster assembly needs to be set on the protective barrier and get connected to the power supply while activating the power Seat Switch will extract the rear actuator bolts (5,9). The front actuator bolts should be accessible when you push the seat adjuster completely toward the rear. Before removing the actuator which stands next to the motor you must remove the motor support bracket assembly. Detach the jack nuts installed on the upper channel top and extract vertical actuators (1,4) from this channel. Installation of the vertical actuator (1,4) begins with attaching it to the upper channel followed by tightening the vertical actuator jack nut to 11 n.m (97 lb in). Put back the motor support bracket should it have been taken out during previous steps. The power Seat Switch should position the seat adjuster fully forward before installing the rear actuator bolts which need a torque setting of 4 n.m (35 lb in). After placing the seat adjuster at its maximum rear position install the front actuator bolts while tightening them to 4 n.m (35 lb in). Before detachment one should disconnect the power seat wire harness connector. Then extract the adjuster assembly from the vehicle while connecting the drive cable to actuator (1,4). Afterward push the drive cable connector until it produces an audible click noise. The installation process ends with barrier removal while installing the seat adjuster assembly on the cushion frame for a phase alignment check.
