The protective cover needs opening to reach the battery positive cable terminal while loosening its nut before cable removal. The process begins by using a tool to push down (3, 4) the locking tabs of the battery cables harness retainers which leads to the removal of the underhood fuse block cover. Untighten the positive battery cable nut which attaches to the underhood fuse block then remove its cable segment through the upper area of the battery cables harness conduit. The vehicle must be lifted high enough to get to the remainder of the cable passing through the wheelhouse before removing the left wheelhouse liner. Connectors to detach the starter's battery positive cable can be performed by unscrewing the terminal nut. Disconnect the retainer of the battery cables harness at the engine wiring harness bracket to extract the battery positive cable from its conduit. Install the battery positive cable by passing it into the battery cables harness conduit then secure the engine wiring harness bracket with the battery cables harness retainer. Thread the positive cable of the battery to the starter while fastening its terminal nut but only with a torque of 9 N.m (80 lb in). Start by installing the left wheelhouse liner and lowering the utility vehicle before inserting the battery positive cable into the upper area of the battery cables harness conduit. The battery positive cable requires attachment to the underhood fuse block using a nut which should be tightened to 9 N.m (80 lb in). Reattach the underhood fuse block cover by locking its tabs before placing retainers (3 and 4) on the battery cables harness. Clean all corrosive material from the battery terminal through cable maintenance using a wire brush before tightening the battery cable nut to 9 N.m (80 lb in). After closing the protective cover for the battery positive cable terminal you can reconnect the battery negative cable.
