Start by unfastening the battery negative cable. You should first remove the bolt which fastens the battery negative cable to the battery tray before opening the battery cable harness retainer at the battery tray. Remove the battery negative cable from its position in the battery cables harness conduit's upper part. Lift the vehicle while providing just enough clearance to remove the cable through its wheelhouse path before taking out the left wheelhouse lining. The battery negative cable needs its bolt removed while you separate the cable from the engine block. Also remove the battery cable harness retainer at its location on the engine wiring harness bracket. Pull out the battery negative cable through the battery cables harness conduit. The installation process starts by placing the battery negative cable into the battery cables harness conduit while closing the battery cable harness retainer at the engine wiring harness bracket. Fasten the battery negative cable bolt to the engine block while tightening it to 35 N.m (26 lb ft). To continue install the left wheelhouse liner followed by lowering the vehicle and inserting the battery negative cable into the upper portion of the battery cables harness conduit then close the battery cable harness retainer at the battery tray. To complete the installation thread the battery negative cable bolt through the battery tray before tightening it to a torque range of 9 N.m (80 lb in).

The protective cover needs opening to reach the battery positive cable terminal while loosening its nut before cable removal. The process begins by using a tool to push down (3, 4) the locking tabs of the battery cables harness retainers which leads to the removal of the underhood fuse block cover. Untighten the positive battery cable nut which attaches to the underhood fuse block then remove its cable segment through the upper area of the battery cables harness conduit. The vehicle must be lifted high enough to get to the remainder of the cable passing through the wheelhouse before removing the left wheelhouse liner. Connectors to detach the starter's battery positive cable can be performed by unscrewing the terminal nut. Disconnect the retainer of the battery cables harness at the engine wiring harness bracket to extract the battery positive cable from its conduit. Install the battery positive cable by passing it into the battery cables harness conduit then secure the engine wiring harness bracket with the battery cables harness retainer. Thread the positive cable of the battery to the starter while fastening its terminal nut but only with a torque of 9 N.m (80 lb in). Start by installing the left wheelhouse liner and lowering the utility vehicle before inserting the battery positive cable into the upper area of the battery cables harness conduit. The battery positive cable requires attachment to the underhood fuse block using a nut which should be tightened to 9 N.m (80 lb in). Reattach the underhood fuse block cover by locking its tabs before placing retainers (3 and 4) on the battery cables harness. Clean all corrosive material from the battery terminal through cable maintenance using a wire brush before tightening the battery cable nut to 9 N.m (80 lb in). After closing the protective cover for the battery positive cable terminal you can reconnect the battery negative cable.

The replacement of the battery positive cable requires starting with a negative battery cable disconnection procedure. Connect the starter with positive terminal using the positive battery cable while installing the starter terminal nut at 9 N·m (80 lb in) torque. After installing the left wheelhouse liner and lowering the vehicle, place the battery positive cable into the upper part of the battery cables harness conduit. Screw the battery positive cable end to the underhood fuse block using a nut which needs to be tightened to 9 N·m (80 lb in). Thoroughly replace and secure the underhood fuse block cover with its locking tabs in position along with restoring battery cable retainer clips (3, 4). Use a wire brush to eliminate corrosion from the battery terminal and cable before tightly securing the battery cable nut to 9 N·m (80 lb in) while connecting the cable to the battery. Establish the protective cover on the battery positive cable terminal before restoring connection of the negative battery cable.

The ignition switch should be in the LOCK position.

Open the protective cover to access the positive battery cable terminal, then loosen the positive battery cable nut and remove the positive battery cable from the battery.

Insert the battery cables back into the vehicle.
