2005 Chevrolet Colorado Canister Purge Valves Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the canister purge valves on 2005 Chevrolet Colorado?
A: The first procedure when replacing the EVAPORATIVE EMISSION (EVAP) CANISTER PURGE SOLENOID VALVE requires lifting the vehicle for wheelhouse access followed by left wheelhouse liner removal. Use the EVAP purge hose/pipe and the EVAP purge hose to disconnect from the EVAP canister purge solenoid valve by following the Quick Connect Fitting(s) Service (Plastic Collar). First disconnect the electrical connector from the valve followed by unbolting it from the engine before extracting it. The new EVAP canister purge solenoid valve installation requires setting it at the engine location and securing it with the bolt which must be tightened to 10 N.m (89 lb in) following Service Precautions Fastener Notice. Connect the electrical connector to the valve before you attach the EVAP purge hose/pipe and the EVAP purge hose using Quick Connect Fitting(s) Service (Plastic Collar). Put back the left wheelhouse liner before lowering the vehicle.
