2006 Chevrolet Colorado Canister Purge Valves Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Service and Repair Canister Purge Valves on 2006 Chevrolet Colorado?
A: The process to change the EVAP canister purge solenoid valve starts by elevating and sustaining the vehicle before removing the left wheelhouse liner to access the valve through the wheelhouse. A technician can disconnect the EVAP purge hose/pipe as well as the EVAP purge hose from the EVAP canister purge solenoid valve through the service (plastic collar) Quick Connect Fittings. The first step is to disconnect the power connector from the valve followed by removing the bolt which attaches the valve to the engine and then removing the valve. The new EVAP canister purge solenoid valve installation requires positioning it at the engine before securing it with a bolt that should be tightened to 10 N.m (89 lb in) according to the Service Precautions Fastener Notice. The EVAP purge hose/pipe and EVAP purge hose should be connected to the valve by using the Quick Connect Fitting(s) Service (Plastic Collar). Complete the process by installing the wheelhouse liner on the left side then lowering the vehicle.
