2006 Chevrolet Colorado Exhaust Heat Shield Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to Replace an Exhaust Heat Shield on an Exhaust Manifold on 2006 Chevrolet Colorado?
A: Start the replacement of Exhaust Manifold heat shield (LK5) by taking out the air cleaner outlet duct followed by the air cleaner assembly. The m30-equipped vehicle requires removing its transmission filler tube bracket nut from the a.i.r adapter before setting it aside. The first step involves detaching the heated Oxygen Sensor (HO2S) from the Exhaust Manifold while removing the three heat shield securing nuts. Finally, take off the heat shield. The installation process starts by placing the new heat shield onto the Exhaust Manifold and all heat shield nuts require application of gm p/n 12371386 (Canadian P/N 993128) anti-seize compound. After installation snug down the nuts to 10 nm (89 inch lbs.). Reinstall the ho2s on the Exhaust Manifold while moving the transmission filler tube to the a.i.r. Adapter, if necessary, before securing it with the bracket nut at 12.5 nm (111 inch lbs.). The last installation step includes placing back the air cleaner assembly along with the air cleaner outlet duct.
