2005 Chevrolet Express 2500 Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the A/C Accumulator in the HVAC system on 2005 Chevrolet Express 2500?
A: The first step before replacing the hvac accumulator is to extract the refrigerant from the air conditioning system. After removing the Coolant Reservoir disconnect the electronic connection for the a/c low pressure sensor. The procedure begins with unfastening the evaporator outlet hose retaining nut from the accumulator and subsequently unfastening the compressor inlet hose retaining nut. Take out the accumulator together with the sealing washers by removing the retaining screw from the accumulator retaining bracket. Follow the instructions when replenishing an accumulator by pouring the required pag oil amount. The new accumulator installation includes attaching the screw which fits to the accumulator retaining bracket before tightening it to 9 n.m (80 lb in). First connect the low pressure sensor electrical connector then install new sealing washers beforeinstalling the evaporator outlet hose while tightening its retaining nut to 16 n.m (12 lb ft). Install the compressor inlet hose followed by its nut tightening to specifications at 16 n.m (12 lb ft). The last steps include installing the Coolant Reservoir followed by an a/c system leak test using the halogen leak detector (J 39400-A) after evacuation and recharging.
