  A: Firstly, to replace the valve lifters, take off the lower Intake Manifold followed by the valve rocker arms and valve pushrods making sure that the components are placed in a rack so that they can be used again in their original positions. Then unscrew the bolts and lifter Pushrod guide and position valve lifters in the rack standing way up to prevent oil leakage. If variable lifters are stuck down with gum or varnish deposits, use the valve lifter remover (J 3049-A) to help remove them. Attends cleaning lifter valves with the help of the cleaning solvent; shop towel; examines their excessive wear or scoring and, if necessary, remedy the situation with the engine block.
