2005 Chevrolet Impala Timing Chain Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to install the timing chain and sprockets (L36) on 2005 Chevrolet Impala?
A: Start installation of l36 Timing Chain and sprockets by placing the Crankshaft balancer key within the keyway then position it either exactly parallel to the Crankshaft or at a slight incline. Start by positioning the Timing Chain onto the sprockets while maintaining their timing marks properly aligned. Then install both the Timing Chain and Crankshaft sprocket and camshaft sprocket. Service precautions include both the special fastener notice and fastener notice so technicians need to follow these instructions. Tighten the camshaft sprocket bolt first with the j 45059 angle meter (J 45059) to 100 nm (74 ft. Lbs.) followed by another 90 degrees of torque growth. Finish the installation with the Timing Chain dampener before torquing the Timing Chain dampener bolt to 22 nm (16 ft. Lbs.).
