2005 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the Mass Air Flow Sensor on 2005 Chevrolet Silverado 1500?
A: The procedure to replace the Mass Air Flow Sensor/intake air temperature (MAF/IAT) sensor requires disconnecting the electrical connector then loosening the air cleaner outlet duct clamp where the maf/iat sensor is located before removing the duct. The maf/iat sensor clamp at the air cleaner box must be loosened for replacement while users need to be mindful of both dropping the sensor and damaging the screen at the air inlet end and avoid touching the sensing elements and all contact between solvents and lubricants; small amounts of spo p/n 12345884 lubricant or a soap-based equivalent help with installation. You should check for the proper arrow position on the new maf/iat sensor which needs to point toward the air cleaner box during sensor installation. Secure the maf/iat sensor clamp at the air cleaner box to 4 n.m (35 lb in). Afterward begin installing the outlet duct from the air cleaner until its clamp reaches the same torque setting. Reinstall the electrical connector as the last step.
