2005 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 Spark Plug Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace a spark plug on 2005 Chevrolet Silverado 1500?
A: The initial step for Spark Plug replacement involves rotating the Spark Plug wire boot 1/2 turn to disconnect it while only handling the boot until a proper tool removes the wire base. Brush off any dirt adjacent to the Spark Plug while loosening its threads by one or two turns before plug removal. Multiple spark plugs being extracted should be contained according to cylinder numbers in separate labeled containers. The Spark Plug washer must be placed properly while inspecting the gap to adjust it to 1.524 mm (0.060 in) if necessary. Use hand tools to start the Spark Plug into its designated cylinder before tightening it to 15 n.m (11 lb ft) for used heads while new aluminum heads require a torque setting of 20 n.m (15 lb ft) and new iron heads need 30 n.m (22 lb ft).
