The Spark Plug wire needs to be installed during the final stage.

Starting the replacement process requires removing Spark Plug wire followed by loosenng the Spark Plug a turn or two. Before you remove the Spark Plug you need to use compressed air or a brush to clear off dirt from its surrounding area. Cylinders should be identified on individual trays where multiple plug removal takes place. After placing the Spark Plug washer correctly install the plug and check the gap that requires adjustment until it reaches 1.524 mm (0.060 in). Start the Spark Plug by hand in the designated cylinder then tighten it to 15 n.m (11 lb ft) when the heads are used or to 20 n.m (15 lb ft) for new heads. Install the Spark Plug wire as the final step.

The first step before replacing a Spark Plug includes disconnecting the wire boot through a 1/2 turn twist action while using proper boot removal tools or pulling only on the boot itself. You should lightly loosen the Spark Plug 1 or 2 turns before cleaning surrounding dirt with brush or compressed air. Place each unplugged Spark Plug into distinct trays which match each respective cylinder identification number when changing more than one plug at a time. Start by discharging the Spark Plug wire from the plug then gently turn this plug a quarter to half twist. A brush or compressed air should clean the dirt surrounding the Spark Plug before removal. Serve the Spark Plug washer properly and check the Spark Plug gap while adjusting it to 1.016 mm (0.040 in) for installation purposes.
