2005 Chevrolet Tahoe Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the outlet Coolant Pipe on 4.8L, 5.3L, and 6.0L engines on 2005 Chevrolet Tahoe?
A: A cooling system drain is required before removing or replacing the surge tank hose/pipe outlet on engines using 4.8l, 5.3l or 6.0l displacement. First loosen the air cleaner outlet duct clamps located at the Throttle Body and mass airflow/intake air temperature (MAF/IAT) sensor before removing the air cleaner outlet duct. Before proceeding owners should remove surge tank/heater outlet hose from its mounting clip unless their vehicle has regular production option c36 auxiliary heater. For vehicles with rpo c36 perform the identical step. The heater line quick connect release tool (J 43181) should be used to encircle the surge tank outlet hose (black connector). After pulling firmly on the tool to secure the outlet hose into the quick connect end, finish the installation. Holding the outlet hose pull it off the heater and blower module no matter the rpo c36 configuration. Move the surge tank outlet hose clamp to its proper location at the surge tank then remove the outlet hose from the surge tank before replacing the clamp at the Water Pump. Next detach the hose from the Water Pump. Join the new surge tank outlet hose to the Water Pump and fasten the clamp tightly. Thread the surge tank outlet hose through its proper opening at the surge tank then secure the clamp into position. The heater and blower module requires a surge tank outlet hose connection for rpo c36 equipped vehicles to ensure proper hose attachment. Equipped vehicles should conduct this connection but vehicles without equipment must follow the same procedure. For both configurations fix the surge tank/heater outlet hose to its mounting clip. Install the air cleaner outlet duct while maintaining the Throttle Body end arrow next to the Throttle Body attaching stud then torque the duct clamps at the Throttle Body and maf/iat sensor to a torque of 7 nm (62 inch lbs.). Finally, fill the cooling system.
