The first step to change the front Transfer Case output shaft seal is to lift the vehicle. First remove the front propeller shaft together with the dust shield that is attached to the front output shaft. A screwdriver should be tapped gently along the front output shaft seal border to detach it from the Transfer Case. The process calls for the j45236 to install on the front output shaft before fitting the front output shaft seal to it. The front output shaft seal needs alignment on j45236-2 before installing it with j45236-1. Reinstallation of the dust shield on both the front output shaft and front propeller shaft follows removal of the j45236-1 and j45236-2. Complete the inspection by next checking the Transfer Case fluid level then putting the vehicle back on the ground.
