  • Q: How to replace the negative battery cable on 2005 Chevrolet Uplander?
    A: First disconnect the battery ground (negative) cable and the battery current sensor electrical connector and also battery positive cable from the battery. Take the inner fender negative battery ground cable nut away and also take the battery positive cable nut from the underhood electrical center. Next, take out battery ground negative cable nut and cable from the transaxle stud, which are then followed by starter motor bat terminal nut from the starter motor, and finally, battery positive cable from starter motor bat terminal. Disconnect Battery Cable, positive and negative and remove retainers from inner fender and lower retainers from the tie bar. In case the negative Battery Cable have to be changed, de-mate the battery current sensor. Installation begins by installing the battery current sensor if it was removed before or if the cable was a negative Battery Cable. After that, install the battery ground (negative) battery to the vehicle and also the battery positive cables to it, and then the Battery Cable conduit retainers to the inner fender and the lower tie bar. Secure the starter motor bat terminal positive cable and nut and tighten the nut to 10 n.m (89 lb in.). Then, connect the battery ground (negative) cable and nut to the transaxle stud, torquing to 25 n.m (18 lb ft). Mount the battery positive cable and nut to the underhood electrical center with a nut tightness of 10 n.m (89 lb in), and then mount the battery ground negative cable nut into the inner fender with a nut tightness of 5 n.m (44 lb in). Connect the battery positive wire from the battery, tighten the battery terminal bolt to 16 n.m (12 lb ft), then connect the battery current sensor electrical connector, before the installation of the battery ground (negative) cable to the battery.
