Q: How to replace the upper intake manifold on 2005 Chevrolet Uplander?
A: To remove the upper Intake Manifold remove the negative Battery Cable and also remove the vacuum hoses from the evap canister purge valve and the bracket booster respectively. Next role out and take off the electrical connectors from the exhaust gas recirculation (EGR), mass air flow (MAF), electronic throttle control, and evap canister purge valve. Unclamp and then detach the air cleaner intake duct and drain the cooling system. After that, remove the left side Spark Plug Wires from the spark plugs and remove the camshaft position (CMP) sensor wiring harness, left side Spark Plug wire harness, and engine wiring, connect it to the third drive belt idler pulley retainingg clips and connect the camshaft position (CMP) sensor wiring harness, left side Spark Plug wire harness, to the engine wiring. Unfit the Ignition Coil bracket with the coils, the evap canister purge solenoid valve, the manifold absolute pressure (MAP) sensor and its bracket and the EGR Valve. Unscrew the upper bolt for Intake Manifold and stud, the generator bracket and the upper Intake Manifold itself and the upper Intake Manifold gaskets. In the case of replacing upper Intake Manifold, remove Throttle Body also and clean upper intake gasket mating surfaces. For installation, if the Throttle Body had been removed, place it, then upper Intake Manifold gaskets, and upper Intake Manifold into place. Apply threadlocker gm p/n 12345382 (Canadian P/N 10953489) to the upper Intake Manifold bolt threads and proceed with upper Intake Manifold bolt and stud installation tightening to 25 nm (18ft. Lbs.). Replace the generator bracket, egr valve, map sensor bracket and sensor, as well as the evap canister purge solenoid valve. Then, put the Ignition Coil bracket with the coils and do the engagement of the engine wiring harness, left side Spark Plug wire harness, and cmp sensor wiring harness to their retainers. Reconnect the left Spark Plug Wires to the spark plugs, place air cleaner intake duct, and join the electrical connectors of evap canister purge valve, electronic throttle control, maf sensor, and EGR Valve. Finally, re-install vacuum hoses at the Brake Booster and evap canister purge valve and reconnect the negative batter cable and fill-up the cooling system.
