2005 Chevrolet Venture Ball Joint Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the lower ball joint on 2005 Chevrolet Venture?
A: You need to detach the lower Control Arm and place it in a vise before working on the replacement. Use a drilling tool to remove the ball stud rivet heads after which a hammer and drift punch will extract the rivets and pull out the ball stud from the lower Control Arm. Refit the ball stud on the lower Control Arm while keeping its new bolt ends pointing downward from the stud. Under specific conditions only can you re-use this torqued fastener since it must engage its mate perfectly without resistance after developing 2 nm (18 lb in) of torque. New fasteners must go in whenever this condition fails. Put in the fresh ball stud nuts afterward and fasten them to 68 nm (50 lb ft) while putting the lower Control Arm back.
