• Q: How to replace the entire 3-way catalytic converter assembly on 2005 Chevrolet Venture?

  A: There is need to raise and support the vehicle suitably in order to replace the entire 3-way Catalytic Converter assembly. Remove the heated Oxygen Sensor connector. Get rid of the nuts on the exhaust manifold pipe studs and the Catalytic Converter nuts from the Exhaust Pipe then pull out the 3-way Catalytic Converter. To install, locate a new Catalytic Converter Gasket and make sure that converter is supported to avoid inner damage to the flexible connecting; vertical movement in the rear of the assembly should not be more than 6 degrees up or down. Next, install a new exhaust manifold pipe gasket, place and secure the new 3-way Catalytic Converter under the motor vehicle, and connect the Exhaust Pipe to the converter using its Catalytic Converter nuts without tightening them. Loosely install the exhaust manifold pipe nuts on to the exhaust manifold pipe studs and tighten them up to 35 n.m (26 lb ft); then tighten the Catalytic Converter nuts up to 34 n.m (25 lb ft). Finally, lower the vehicle.
