2005 Chevrolet Venture Exhaust Manifold Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the right exhaust manifold on 2005 Chevrolet Venture?
A: The right Exhaust Manifold replacement process starts with removing the windshield wiper motor cover followed by taking off the throttle body air inlet duct and accelerator cable bracket from the throttle body. Beginning with engine rotation for better access leads to the removal of the manifold air pressure (MAP) sensor, exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) valve, ignition module, ignition coils with their bracket, Spark Plug Wires from the engine right bank spark plugs, oxygen sensor electrical connector, and the evaporative emissions (EVAP) solenoid bracket. Begin by securely supporting the vehicle, then unfasten the heat shield bolts, Exhaust Manifold gasket along with the Exhaust Manifold nuts, and Catalytic Converter while also taking out the Exhaust Manifold heat shields. The installation requires surface cleaning of both the engine right side Exhaust Manifold and the cylinder head. The EGR Valve pipe together with heated Oxygen Sensor (HO2S) need to be taken out when changing the Exhaust Manifold. When returning the ho2s along with EGR Valve pipe security should be the first step before raising and vehicle suspension again. The Exhaust Manifold Gasket must be fitted to the Exhaust Manifold before securing all nuts using a torque of 16 nm (12 ft. Lbs.). The next step involves installing lower and upper heat shields by tightening the heat shield bolts to 10 nm (89 inch lbs.) before proceeding to attach the Catalytic Converter. After lowering the vehicle you need to attach the exhaust crossover pipe studs or nuts to right engine manifold and the heat shield. Reestablish the ho2s electrical connection before mounting the evap solenoid bracket along with Spark Plug Wires to right bank engine plugs and installing ignition parts and their bracket. Finish by installing the EGR Valve to the intake manifold followed by the MAP Sensor while rotating the engine back to its original position that requires reinforcement of the accelerator cable bracket and throttle body air inlet duct before adding the windshield wiper motor cover.
