- Q: How to replace the left exhaust manifold on 2004 Chevrolet Venture?A: Starting the left Exhaust Manifold replacement requires elimination of the throttle body air inlet duct before drainage of engine coolant through the cooling system and the right engine mount strut bracket removal. The process starts with disconnection of the inlet Radiator Hose from the engine followed by removal of the thermostat bypass pipe and exhaust crossover pipe bolts which secure the engine left side Exhaust Manifold. Begin the replacement by first eliminating the Exhaust Manifold heat shield bolts along with the heat shield and finally removing the Exhaust Manifold nuts and the manifold itself. The second step requires removing the Exhaust Manifold Gasket then cleaning both surfaces that connect the engine left side Exhaust Manifold to the engine left side Cylinder Head. The first installation step involves setting the Exhaust Manifold Gasket followed by placing the Exhaust Manifold. Fasten the Exhaust Manifold nuts until they reach a torque of 16 nm (12 ft. Lbs.) before installing the Exhaust Manifold heat shield and its bolts which need to be tightened to 10 nm (89 inch lbs.). The installation process requires reattaching both the exhaust crossover pipe and the thermostat bypass pipe while reconnecting the engine with the inlet Radiator Hose. Conclude the process by placing right engine mount strut bracket then filling the cooling system with engine coolant and installing throttle body air inlet duct.
