    Q:
How to replace the right exhaust manifold on Chevrolet Lumina? Posted by Customer
    A:
The ground cable of the battery needs to be disconnected before procedure initiation. Rotate the engine forward after you remove the throttle body air inlet duct and engine mount struts. Remove the exhaust crossover pipe heat shield then unfasten the bolts which connect the right Exhaust Manifold to the crossover pipe. Before proceeding disconnect the heated Oxygen Sensor (H02S) wiring harness connector while simultaneously raising the vehicle. Remove the exhaust gas recirculation tube which connects to the rear manifold by disconnecting the three-way catalytic converter pipe from the right Exhaust Manifold. The following step involves removing both upper and lower heat shield bolts together with their heat shields. Lower the vehicle before removing the right Exhaust Manifold nuts and the manifold together with its gasket. The right Exhaust Manifold along with right Cylinder Head need to receive cleaning on their sealing areas. The removal of heated oxygen sensors must happen before changing out the manifold. The right Exhaust Manifold gasket and manifold installation requires the heated Oxygen Sensor as first step followed by the gasket then the manifold. Being done tighten right Exhaust Manifold nuts to a torque value of 16 nm (12 ft. Lbs.) before raising the vehicle a second time. Insert the lower heat shield first and secure its bolts at 10 nm (89 inch lbs.) before installing the upper heat shield assembly and torquing its bolts to a similar value of 10 nm (89 inch lbs.). Reinstall the EGR Tube on the rear manifold while connecting its three-way catalytic converter pipe to the right Exhaust Manifold. Lower the vehicle while connecting the wire harness of heated Oxygen Sensor (H02S) to its port. The installation of exhaust crossover pipe bolts should include the right Exhaust Manifold and the heat shield before returning the engine to its correct position. Afterward install the throttle body air inlet duct together with engine mount struts before reattaching the battery ground cable.

    Q:
How to replace the right exhaust manifold on Chevrolet Venture? Posted by Customer
    A:
The first step to replace the right Exhaust Manifold involves removing the windshield wiper motor cover along with the throttle body air inlet duct and accelerator cable bracket from the throttle body. Better engine access is possible with rotational movement before removing the manifold air pressure (MAP) sensor, exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) valve, ignition module, ignition coils with their bracket, spark plug wires from engine right bank spark plugs, and Oxygen Sensor electrical connector. Moving on to the next step you have to separate the evaporative emissions (EVAP) solenoid bracket from the exhaust crossover pipe while also removing nuts/studs that secure the engine right bank Exhaust Manifold. Support the vehicle securely before you remove the Catalytic Converter as well as the Exhaust Manifold heat shield bolts and heat shields. Clean both surfaces on which the engine right side Exhaust Manifold mates with the cylinder head after removing the manifold with its gasket. The replacement of an Exhaust Manifold requires removal of both the EGR Valve pipe along with the heated Oxygen Sensor (H02S). Reposition the heated Oxygen Sensor (H02S) and EGR Valve pipe before you properly secure the vehicle for the second time. First secure the Exhaust Manifold Gasket to the Exhaust Manifold with nuts that reach 16 nm (12 ft. Lbs.) then add the lower and upper heat shields and fasten their bolts at 10 nm (89 inch lbs.). After lowering the vehicle you should secure the exhaust crossover pipe studs to the engine right side Exhaust Manifold as well as the heat shield. Lower the vehicle again then integrate the heated Oxygen Sensor (H02S) electrical connector before installing the evap solenoid bracket. Follow the spark plug wire attachment to engine right bank plugs then proceed with installing the ignition module followed by ignition coils and bracket. The end of this repair requires installation of the EGR Valve over the intake manifold followed by the MAP Sensor and engine return to its initial position then installation of the accelerator cable bracket and throttle body air inlet duct and windshield wiper motor cover.
