2000 Chevrolet Venture Exhaust Manifold Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the exhaust manifold on the engine right side on 2000 Chevrolet Venture?
A: The process of Exhaust Manifold replacement for the engine right side starts with removing the windshield wiper motor cover together with the throttle body air inlet duct followed by removing the accelerator cable bracket from the throttle body and the manifold air pressure (MAP) sensor and exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) valve. Better access can be achieved by rotating the engine before removing the ignition module along with the ignition coils bracket and Spark Plug Wires from engine right bank spark plugs and the Oxygen Sensor electrical connector as well as the evaporative emissions (EVAP) solenoid bracket. To start the procedure, first remove the exhaust crossover pipe nuts/studs from the engine right bank Exhaust Manifold along with raising and supporting the vehicle before eliminating the Catalytic Converter. Start by removing all bolts that secure the Exhaust Manifold heat shields and shields then remove the nuts from the manifold followed by taking off the manifold itself and the gasket for the Exhaust Manifold. The technician should clean both sealing surfaces on the right side engine Exhaust Manifold and cylinder head. It is essential to uninstall the EGR Valve pipe together with the heated Oxygen Sensor (HO2S) when changing the Exhaust Manifold. The EGR Valve pipe should be mounted after the heated Oxygen Sensor if these components were removed. Lift the vehicle to its original position and place the Exhaust Manifold over the surface before torquing manifold nuts up to 16 nm (12 ft. Lbs.). After that, proceed with installing the upper and lower heat shields while securing their bolts at 10 nm (89 inch lbs.). The final installation step includes adding the Catalytic Converter. Reposition the vehicle then fasten screws of the exhaust crossover pipe to the engine right side Exhaust Manifold followed by its associated heat shield. First lower the vehicle before plugging in the heated Oxygen Sensor (H02S) electrical connection and installing the evap solenoid bracket while setting the Spark Plug Wires to right bank engine spark plugs and fitting the ignition module and ignition coils with bracket support. The first step is to rotate the engine to its original position before installing the EGR Valve to the intake manifold and the MAP Sensor followed by the accelerator cable bracket to the throttle body along with the throttle body air inlet duct and the windshield wiper motor cover.
