• Q: How to replace the left exhaust manifold on 2001 Chevrolet Venture?

  A: Start the replacement of the left Exhaust Manifold by removing the throttle body air duct followed by draining the engine coolant from the cooling system. After removing the right engine mount strut bracket move on to disconnection of the inlet Radiator Hose from the engine. First detach the thermostat bypass pipe from its mounting position and then disconnect the exhaust crossover pipe bolts at the left side of the engine manifold. First cut off the Exhaust Manifold heat shield bolts then remove the heat shield before uninstalling the Exhaust Manifold nuts along with the manifold itself. It is essential to remove the Exhaust Manifold Gasket along with cleaning both sealing surfaces between the engine left side Exhaust Manifold and engine left side Cylinder Head. You must install the Exhaust Manifold Gasket before setting the Exhaust Manifold in its place. Pre-install the Exhaust Manifold heat shield with its bolts while torquing them to 10 nm (89 inch lbs.) and tighten the Exhaust Manifold nuts to 16 nm (12 ft. Lbs.). You should start by installing the crossover exhaust pipe and bypass thermostat pipe followed by attaching the engine inlet hose to the radiator and also reinstalling the right engine strut mount bracket. Connect the throttle body air inlet duct before adding engine coolant into the cooling system.
