2005 Chevrolet Venture Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the transmission pan on 2005 Chevrolet Venture?
A: The first step when replacing an Oil Pan requires a vehicle lift followed by proper support of the vehicle. A drainage basin should be placed directly beneath the transaxle bottom Oil Pan. J 36850 transjel lubricant (J 36850) should be used for assembly because other types of grease can modify transaxle fluid characteristics which may cause shift difficulties or filter blockage. The Oil Pan bolts must be removed both from the front and side before loosening the rear bolts by approximately four turns. Strikes to the Oil Pan with a rubber mallet and flat bladed tool should both be performed carefully to maintain mating surface integrity and stop oil leakage. Use a drain pan to collect the fluid before uninstalling all remaining bolts which allow you to remove the Oil Pan together with its gasket. The Oil Pan gets infrared light and filter screen analysis for metal particles along with clutch facing material along with rubber particles and engine coolant inspection. The source of all contamination gets identified and fixed. The distortion of Oil Pan flange requires correction through straightening if possible. Look for defective bolts and washers then reform them using new assemblies. An inspection of both the Oil Pan base and the gasket must identify a damaged sealing surface or a dented or cracked bottom and check the gasket for damaged seal core and rubber seal surface conditions. Check the condition of the Oil Pan magnet alongside its proper alignment and thoroughly clean Oil Pan material, gasket and magnet from sediment buildup. Apply new Oil Pan gasket together with Oil Pan only after the components and case flanges are dry and oil-free. Fasten the six Oil Pan bolts to 14 nm (10 ft. Lbs. Torque). The vehicle needs to be lowered while fluid level adjustment should be performed to ensure the transaxle avoids damage and remains free of fluid loss or shift problems that can happen from overfilling. Finally, inspect for fluid leaks.
