2005 GMC Safari Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the front brake line on 2005 GMC Safari?
A: Begin by suspending the vehicle with proper support and removing the tire together with the wheel assembly. After cleaning debris from both the brake hose ending and the brake pipe fitting you must install a rubber cap or stopper on the exposed brake pipe fitting to stop brake fluid from leaking and causing contamination. A back up wrench must be used to disconnect the brake pipe end from the brake hose so that you can properly cap or plug the fitting end. Disconnect the brake hose retaining clip from the bracket followed by bolt removal from the bracket on the upper Control Arm and rear brake hose bolt from the caliper. You should dispose of both brake system gaskets made from copper material since they may adhere to either the brake caliper housing or brake hose end. Assembly requires new brake hose gaskets and a brake hose bolt attached to the brake hose followed by brake caliper bolt-front installation and placement and tightening of brake caliper washers to 40 nm (30 ft. Lbs.) torque. The engineer should position the brake hose properly to avoid twisting or touching any suspension parts. The first step is to fasten the brake hose bracket bolt to and the bracket onto the upper Control Arm by tightening to 9 nm (80 inch lbs.).secure the brake hose in the brake hose bracket with a brake hose retaining clip. Use a back up wrench on the brake hose fitting end to attach the brake pipe fitting end to the brake hose while maintaining the brake pipe and bracket in a straight position. Then tighten the brake pipe fitting end to 25 nm (18 ft. Lbs.). Bleed the hydraulic brake system while reinstalling the tire and wheel assembly along with inspection during extreme right and left turn conditions. When brake hose contact occurs remove the hose and resolve the issue before vehicle lowering.
