2006 Buick Rainier Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the rack and pinion inner tie rod off on 2006 Buick Rainier?
A: For Rack And Pinion inner Tie Rod off vehicle replacement you need these tools: inner Tie Rod wrench (J34028) along with required others. Inner Tie Rod wrench (J34028). Start your procedure by taking out the Rack And Pinion boot from the vehicle. Lock the gear into a vise then remove the shock dampener from the inner Tie Rod housing. Steering gear preload adjustment should never be modified until the inner Tie Rod is successfully moved because damaging the system could occur. The shock dampener should slide back onto the rack before placing a pipe wrench near the inner Tie Rod housing 's valve end. The division between the inner Tie Rod housing and rack can be obtained by using a wrench to twist the flats counterclockwise. Continue this procedure for the second Tie Rod housing but first remove the shock damper then replace it on the rack before using the pipe wrench. The threads of inner Tie Rod and rack should have their old loctite(R) material removed before proceeding. Start assembly by putting the shock dampener onto the rack and apply loctite(R) 262 to the inner Tie Rod threads when needed. Install the inner Tie Rod on the rack while using the pipe wrench along with the torque wrench that includes the inner Tie Rod wrench (J34028) and tighten the rod to 100 nm (74 ft. Lbs.). After repeating the process on the inner Tie Rod, check that the inner Tie Rod assembly housing stakes properly against the male rack. A 0.25 mm gauge should be used to examine stakes by verifying their position between the rack and the housing stake. Insert the shock dampener onto the inner Tie Rod housing where it should rest correctly.
