2006 Cadillac CTS Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to service the Steering Angle Sensor on 2006 Cadillac CTS?
A: When servicing the steering angle sensor locate the type of sensor from the supplied illustrations. The FRONT of the sensor connector will be at the right side. If using the existing sensor, centering is not necessary before extracting it. Separate the sensor connector and take out the sensor from the adapter and bearing assembly. While re-installing, pay attention to the alignment mark on the flush rotor flange cuff in case they are re-using the sensor, or else misalignment will soon arrive. For installation, align the sensor with the steering shaft and install it in the adapter and bearing assembly, with the connector properly connected. The FRONT of the sensor will comprise a foam ring, a pin hole for centering, a flushed rotor flange cuff, and an alignment mark. If the new sensor is used, it will have a pin inserted; don't remove the pin until the sensor is in place. Make sure that the alignment marks on the rotor flange cuff do not wear off until the sensor is seated fully. Rehearse the alignment and installation process for other sensors if there are any, and make sure to record the exact features like raised rotor flange cuff and alignment tab for the right installation.
