• Q: How to replace the oil pan on 2006 Cadillac DTS?

  A: To remove the Oil Pan, first drain the engine oil and remove front exhaust manifold pipe. Both the engine harness electrical connector & the oil level sensor, disconnect it and loosen the Oil Pan bolts, remember the Oil Pan Gasket can be reused unless damaged so do not remove it from the Oil Pan groove unless necessary. Then take off the Oil Pan and oil level sensor if necessary and clean and examination the Oil Pan. For installation, in case the oil level sensor was removed, install it and tighten it to 20 nm (15 ft. Lbs.). Place the Oil Pan to the lower crankcase and use you finger to start the Oil Pan bolts, then tighten them up to 8 nm (71 inch lb.) and finality to 12 nm (106 inch lb. ). Put back the front exhaust manifold pipe, reconnect the engine harness electrical connector to the oil level sensor, and top up the engine oil.
